Resources available for immediate download from the table below. Brief descriptions of each activity are given below the table. Resources shown in blue are not yet available, these will be added during the next six months. Brief presentations explaining how each resource works can be obtained by selecting the presentation link next to the description of each activity.
To save a resource or guidelines, right-click your mouse button and save target to your computer.
Several of the resources contain macros - macros will need to be enabled on your system in order for them to work.

Equilibria (Presentation):

An Excel spreadsheet for use in explaining the calculation of initial and equilibrium concentrations of components in equilibrium systems. Two examples are used, esterification and a more complicated example. Students select values to calculate and can then check their answer. This sheet makes use of macros so when downloading it ensure that macros are enabled on your system. (Back to top)

Kinetics (Presentation):

An Excel spreadsheet for use in determining the order of a reaction with respect to reactants. Five examples are provided each of which require students to control the concentrations of species taking part in the reaction in order to examine the effect of each reactant on rate. Answers can be checked by students as they work through the activity. This sheet makes use of macros so when downloading it ensure that macros are enabled on your system. (Back to top)

Organic Reagents (Presentation):

An interactive PowerPoint presentation that enables students to practice identifying the products of organic reactions. Alternative routes through the presentation are possible dependant on student choices with a comprehensive set of help slides provided to explain each of the reactions. This has not yet been tested on students so please send any comments to us. (Back to top)

Redox (Presentation):

A spreadsheet that enables students to predict the feasibility of a reaction and determine emf values for cells. This is a pilot versionand has been tested with only a small group of students.(Back to top)

Revision Game (Presentation):

A Word Document that enables students to be tested on their understanding of key words. Studenst work in two teams. One team has to work from left to right across the grid while the other works from the top to the bottom of the grid. This resource has only been used with a small group of students - Any feedback gratefully received.(Back to top)
